Episode 003: Parent/Child Talks that Help Kids Avoid the Porn Trap

Do you have good kids that get into mischief? All kids do!

In this episode, Kayley and I talk about how to foster a relationship with our children where they can come to us about anything. Knowing home is a safe place to talk can actually help kids avoid the porn trap. It’s about keeping all lines of communication open even when kids think they’ve messed up or the subject matter feels too embarrassing to share.

When you consider how much curiosity drives learning, you know kids will have bumps and bruises while they’re learning to grow up healthy and strong. One of our main tasks as parents is to guide and instruct kids to know how to steer clear of the really dangerous situations —like pornography.

I love Kayley’s fun yet no-nonsense parenting approach. I know you will too!

Main points covered in this episode:

  • Why setting ground-rules for our kids is not always enough, and what kinds of things deserve more detailed explanations.
  • The secret to getting over your inhibition of talking about subjects that feel awkward, embarrassing or taboo.
  • Giving kids the ability to make healthy choices about any inappropriate content they encounter online.
